Correspondence
a) 2-1-07  A copy of a letter from the Municipality of Meaford to the City of Owen Sound, dated November 16, 2006, advising of its resolution to request the Federal Government to expedite the study concerning the Upper Lakes declining water levels, so that remediation actions can begin before five (5) years is complete, for the reason that in five (5) years there may be further significant drops in lake levels to the point where some harbours may have to be closed to shipping and pleasure crafts. They are also requesting that funding be provided to expedite the study.
b) 2-2-07  A copy of a letter from the Municipality of Meaford to the City of Owen Sound, dated November 16, 2006, advising of its resolution concerning the exotic species that have invaded the Great Lakes.  The Municipality of Meaford is requesting the Federal Government to bring in legislation and regulations requiring the discharge of all ballast and bilge water and the flushing of these systems plus the inspection of the same.  They are also requesting that the Federal Government fund research to control the invasive species.
c) 2-3-07  A letter from Caroline Di Cocco, M.P.P., Sarnia-Lambton Riding, dated November 16, 2006, thanking Warden Jim Burns for meeting with her to discuss the County's presentation to Minister Pupatello.  Mrs. Di Cocco will continue to keep the issues of our petrochemical industry, its innovative capacity and transmission grid on the minds of her colleagues.
d) 2-4-07  A letter from Bluewater Health, dated November 23, 2006, replying to County Council's motion regarding the restructuring of the Chiropody Program at Bluewater Health.  Bluewater Health will continue to provide the chiropody services for their inpatients at all three sites (CEE, Mitton and Norman).  The decision to change the delivery of the outpatient service was based on the service being readily available in the community by a number of providers; directing their limited resources to provide acute care services for inpatients; delivering the program consistently across all three sites; and, achieving a balanced position mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
e) 2-5-07  A letter from the Township of Madawaska Valley, dated November 21, 2006, advising of its resolution that since the ongoing cuts to medical admissions has created a doctor shortage in Ontario, they are requesting the Government of Ontario to take immediate action, both administratively and fiscally, to resolve the medical care practitioner shortage in Ontario.
f) 2-6-07  A letter from the Town of Markham, dated November 28, 2006, endorsing the City of Vaughan's resolution to request the Federal Government to re-invest in effective environmental programs.  The Town of Markham has great concern over the cancellation of a vast range of programs supporting environmental protection.
g) 2-7-07  A thank you note from the Needham family, for the lovely flowers sent in memory of Thomas Needham, Warden in 1975.
