Correspondence to Receive and File

Recommendation

That the following correspondence items be received and filed:

a) 5-15-08  A resolution from the Municipality of Brockton, dated April 14, 2008 advising that six band councillors from Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inniuwug (KI) or Big Trout Lake have been imprisoned for defending their community from the operations of a mining exploration company and the Municipality of Brockton is writing to Aboriginal Affairs Minister Michael Bryant to ask that new rules be developed for consultations between mining companies and First Nations.  It is also asking the Federal and Provincial Governments to clarify the Native land rights in the constitution.
b) 5-17-09  An email from Susan St. Pierre, Brain Injury Association of Sarnia-Lambton, dated May 12, 2008, advising that they are submitting a proposal to the Erie-St. Clair Local Health Integration Network, for funding for a Clubhouse. The Clubhouse will allow opportunities for survivors and caregivers to volunteer and engage in networking with the community and other survivors.  The Brain Injury Association of Sarnia-Lambton is requesting the County's support of the proposal.
c) 5-19-08  A letter from Mr. John Callaghan, CEO, St. Joseph's Hospice of Sarnia Lambton, dated May 8, 2008, thanking the County of Lambton for its generous donation of $100,000.00 over a five (5) year period to their campaign.  The donation will ensure that the residents of Sarnia Lambton have access to quality end-of-life care.

a) 5-20-08  A letter from Mr. Carl Isenburg, President and C.A.O., Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, dated May 5, 2008, advising that they have received the County of Lambton's letter of April 10th regarding the issue of payments to M.P.A.C. and the implementation of the Ontario Ombudsman's recommendations.  M.P.A.C. has accepted all twenty (20) recommendations that fell within its jurisdiction and has taken significant steps on the recommendations. In addition, M.P.A.C. will make several changes to the Property Assessment Notice to be delivered to property owners later this Fall.
